I have chosen the private conversation between John Proctor and Abigail in Betty's bedroom. Using rhetorical skills I will determine the outcome, which is that Abigail wants to convince Jhon to leave his wife for her.
John enters solemnly, he ignores the stare of Abigail and goes to Betty’s bed side. Abigail: John must you be so cold, i simply want to speak with you. I know you did not come all the way here to see this sick child. In a arrogant voice John: With a cold and stern tone. I came to see your uncle, not you because we have nothing to speak of. There is no we anymore. Abigail: How can you say such things! How can you downcast the UTOPIAN days we spent together! How can you ignore the love we have for each other, something that existed so strongly in the past, surely could not have disappeared so quickly. Have you no soul! (talking in a past sence or placing blame) John: Angrily If i have no soul you have no conscious! You mean to trance to to leave my loving wife and you do so with no shame! Are you a fool child after all? (rhetorical question). I told you we are over! This is the truth you must accept it! Abigail: I have no shame with the way I feel! I love you and weather or not you choose to accept it you self! Your wife does not supply your needs. She doesn't love you like I would! I will give you the love you desire but most importantly deserve. I can be what your wife is not. This would bring extreme criticism on my name it would no longer be white and pure, but i shall endure it if you would give me the chance to prove that my words ring true! I beg you to at least consider it! ( self sacrifice). John: This offer is enticing, your intense words tell me you are true. Abigail: So you will take me back! John: That's not what I said, just let me thing on it!
